Pulau Gusung, Derawan Islands, East Borneo

So, our last island to be visited in Derawan Archipelago that time was Pulau Gusung (Gusung Island) or Pulau Gosong (Burnt Island). On our way, the boat driver asked us not to put our hope to high for spending longer time at Gusung Island because it was highly influenced by the sea tidal. Our driver worried it was already high tide. That worrisome, it also made me worry. Ehm. In about one hour later, the worrisome gradually washed away as we saw something like a long white line between the bright blue sky and the aquamarine sea. We were quite sure it was Gusung Island. And yes, it was.

The island with coarse sands’ grain, which the surrounding water was clear and we could enjoy snorkeling close to that tiny island’s line.

Have you ever been to Gusung Island? What do you think about it? Or if you haven’t, feel like being there?

    1. Oh, great to hear that. Wish you fulfill your list, especially Indonesia. Thank you for the compliment. πŸ˜€

    2. I wasn’t sure if you’re Indonesian. πŸ™‚ Just checked your about page. There’s so much to see in Indonesia. Hard to shortlist. 😦

    3. I am a proud Indonesian (despite of all the bad things you have ever heard about my beloved country). πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
I don’t even have any idea how can I finish experiencing the whole Indonesia’s culture. There’s a lot and each province, each tribe, has its own distinctive culture and custom. πŸ˜€ πŸ™‚

    4. Ah! I didn’t hear of anything bad. πŸ™‚
I know, the country is so big, diverse, and beautiful! I want to plan a trip, but it’s hard to shortlist places. Any suggestions?
I did quite enjoy reading posts of your history and cultural practices. You’re doing a great job, if I haven’t said that before! I realise, there’s so little I know of the world. πŸ™‚

    5. Aw, thank you so much for your nice word. it’s convincing me. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Yes, as we read more, we realise that we know less. πŸ˜€
Ehm, my answer might be cliche but, my suggestion depends on your interest. πŸ˜€ whether it’s cultural, natural beauties, or others. πŸ˜€ πŸ™‚
Thank you again for giving your thoughts here.
